”I learned to cycle a bike at a young age and I loved the freedom and the excitement of exploring new places that my bike gave me.”
Up until this point I have spent most of my working life in a corporate environment. Although I enjoyed my experiences in the various fields I worked in, something was always missing. After being made redundant and a brief time of being unemployed, I decided on a whim to apply for a job as a tour guide in my home city of Dublin. I always had an interest in history and I am a very proud Dubliner so with everything crossed I gave it a go. I found out very quickly that I loved it. I loved everything about being a guide, from the people you meet to being able to show the city I love so much to visitors and locals alike.
I worked with that company for nearly 5 years and I have to say I loved every minute of it. It really taught me my trade. But there was something inside me eating away and that was – how could this be better?? Around this time I had also got back into cycling, which I had not been doing so much of because of work pressures in the past. That’s when I realised how I could make things better.
I spent the best part of two years looking into opening The Lazy Bike Tour Company. I wanted to make sure that I could find the right bikes and that I could find safe routes around Dublin that would make the experience for all level of riders enjoyable.
In the two years of putting the business together “I” very soon became “we”. I have to say we are a great team, we all agree our aim is to make your visit with us as enjoyable as possible and share our passion of this great city we live in.
”I still get the same feeling of excitement getting on a bike today as I did when I first learned to cycle all those year ago.”
