About Lazy Bike Tours How we came about?

“I learned to cycle a bike at a young age and I loved the freedom and the excitement of exploring new places that my bike gave me.”

I spent most of my early working life in a corporate environment. Although I enjoyed my experiences in the various fields I worked in, something was always missing. After being made redundant and a brief time of being unemployed, I decided on a whim to apply for a job as a tour guide in my home city of Dublin. I always had an interest in history and I am a very proud Dubliner so with everything crossed I gave it a go. I found out very quickly that I loved it. I loved everything about being a guide, from the people you meet , to showing the city I love so much to visitors and locals.

I worked with that company for nearly 5 years and I have to say I loved every minute of it. It really taught me my trade. But there was something inside me eating away and that was – how could this be better?? Around this time I had also got back into cycling, which I had not been doing as much of because of work pressures in the past. That’s when I realised how I could make things better.

“I still get the same feeling of excitement getting on a bike today as I did when I first learned to cycle all those year ago.”

I spent the best part of two years looking into opening The Lazy Bike Tour Company. I wanted to make sure that I could find the right bikes and that I could find safe routes around Dublin that would make the experience for all level of riders enjoyable.

Very soon it went from “I” to  “we”. I have to say we are a great team, we all agree our aim is to make your visit with us as enjoyable as possible and share our passion of this great city we live in.
